Introducing EthBlock.art v2, A digital art web3 experiment powered by blockchain data and human inputs, giving anyone the chance to own a piece of Ethereum history, express their creativity, and become a crypto artist producing blockchain art.

What is EthBlock.art?

EthBlock.art v1 is a project started in 2019 as an experiment in digital art. It uses Ethereum blocks as a high entropy data input, removing any applied randomization, creating truly deterministic generative visual art pieces shaped by data, code, and the human touch.

But wait deterministic art? Entropy? Ethereum blocks? What? Why?

Deterministic Art

Creativity catalyzed by constraints

So much if not all of our universe is deterministic, it is questionable the existence of true randomness.

At the same time, much of generative digital art today is done using randomization, data hard to replicate or verify. Humans serve machines code and machines creating art,

Deterministic art changes that relationship, machines serving us data as deterministic chaos, and humans creating art.

Creativity thrives under constraints. The fewer options are provided, the more we improvise, the more creative ways we find to succeed, give a person an empty canvas, and most don’t know where to start, the freedom and vast range of possible outcomes are almost paralyzing for some!

Deterministic chaos as a source of entropy is fuel for creativity, a fair starting point for anyone to produce replicable artistic outputs influenced by their own personal style, there’s enough entropy to make every new instance unique and the creator experience serendipitous.

Entropy and Ethereum block data

The more disordered something is, the more entropic we consider it. In short, we can define entropy as a measure of the universe's disorder, on both a macro and a microscopic level.

Ethereum blocks are a constant flow of deterministic data, immutable, while highly entropic, predictable enough to handle, unique enough to feel random, forever stored, and always verifiable deterministic chaos data.

Subjective value

Blockchain blocks can also have subjective value to people. We, as users of DeFi and Ethereum, have all experienced meaningful moments that define our experience. These moments, given the properties of blockchain, are immortalized as blocks.

A block can already mean something to you and being able to express it in your own way makes it unique for you and others, as your creation, it is something that you can admire, collect, share, gift, or sell.

EthBlock.art v2 and the road ahead…

A permissionless platform where anyone can become and earn as a digital artist or creative technologist in the crypto art space.

I believe anyone can create art.

I believe just like anyone can pick up a brush, a canvas, and some paint, in this digital world we today live in, code can be the brush, data can be the paint, and NFTs are canvases.

EthBlock.art going forward will empower people to develop their own style and express their innate artistic abilities, lowering the barrier of entry for anyone self-motivated to become a crypto artist.

If the v1 is a private studio, one person in his playground tinkering with data and producing art, v2 is a public factory, a permissionless art academy.

Anyone can be an artist with the right tools and a little help.

Like Bob Ross would say, there are no mistakes, only happy little accidents. He inspired generations of watchers to become artists, one episode, one canvas at a time. Digital artists of today can inspire their audience to become the next generation of artists, one line of code, one NFT at a time.

How do we get there?

Together we can achieve more extraordinary things than alone, EthBlock.art going forwards can help lower the barrier of entry and raise inclusion in the crypto art space.

If EthBlock.art today is a planet, the future we’re designing is a galaxy.

Galaxy of what? Of independent creators, art collectors, connoisseurs, mechanism designers, product developers, and creative technologists, creating and earning from their craft and passion, together as a community, an organic and expansive ecosystem.

Today’s early adopters are the pioneers of this new art movement, this experiment in democratic creative power. The ones to help mold this vision and turn it into reality.

The driving force is the desire to empower those looking to express their creative side with the right tools and support, facilitated by code, enabled by novel capabilities engineered by creatives, humans, together with a shared passion building a creative powerhouse and common qualia.

One of the upcoming customizable EthBlock.art styles.
